The main body is made from a prefab three shelf bookcase purchased from Lowe's Home Center. The bookcase is turned upside down so that ball casters can be mounted on the solid top (now the bottom). After the casters are put on, a premade top in a size larger than the bookcase is mounted to the now top (originally the bottom) for a surface for my palette. The bookcase and top surface can be found in the "closet organizer" section of home center stores. I use a 16 by 20 glass palette. One of the adjustable shelves has been removed in order to make room for a plastic drawer unit which holds small tubes of paint. This drawer unit is a cheapo vanity thing from Walmart and the drawers have dividers which work nicely to separate colors. I use the top two drawers for paint and the other two drawers hold paletts knives, vine charcoal, and other incidental supplies.  The shelf it sits on is pulled out a bit because the drawer thing is a bit too deep for the unit, but it works...no problem.

On the left side you can see eye hooks which hold my trusty hog bristle filberts. Also there is a paper towel holder mounted under the palette surface.

On the right side of the unit is a box mounted with an 'L' bracket and
shelf for support. I think I found this box in the craft section at Walmart, but one could easily be made from scratch (by someone other than me). This keeps me from spilling the stinky mineral spirits and it holds a quart jar just right. Notice the drips and splatters everywhere EllieG is NOT a neat freak painter! ;-/   Also you can see a hook with my Walmart garbage bag. I DO recycle! The hook is something found in the bottom of the tool chest. Who knows what it once was....another recycle.....

I saw a similar unit in one of the art magazines and embellished the plan. It works great as a mini studio set up and is very convenient to roll around the house whenever I want to paint a still life in a room other than the studio.
