"Heroes" Her current work of oil on canvas, explores the personal meaning of the objects she surrounds herself with. Often using art materials or Raku pottery (an ancient Asian process of firing ceramics) created by another local artisan, John Audley, she explores the vibrant colors, shapes and textures found in the pottery, by blending the pottery into a setting that includes either art materials and/or more commonly found vessels with a dramatic light and shadows. The human figure is another traditional area she has always been drawn to. Occasionally she will turn to painting the people around her. Often she uses the many local adults and children in her work. In her most recent work she pays homage to those people who have come to the forefront since September 11, 2001. |
